At Grassroots Books, we prefer candidates who can work 35-55 hours per week, including 4-8 hours on weekends.
Hiring Criteria
We welcome applications from groups of friends or family members and consider candidates as young as 15 years old.
Ideal candidates should possess the following skills:
- Basic Math Proficiency: Ability to double-check calculations, such as determining 20% off of $17.99, and quickly estimating purchase totals.
- Communication: Proficiency in written communication for social media posts and customer interactions, with excellent spelling and grammar.
- Customer Service Orientation: A commitment to enhancing customer experiences without the distraction of headphones or earbuds.
Schedule
We don’t send team members home early due to low customer traffic; instead, we focus on productive tasks like shelving books and side work.
Our schedule is consistent each week, with flexibility to accommodate our team’s needs, except November 1 to December 21, when full availability is required.
